Occupied Polish areas
The Second World War began in 1939 with the German attack on Poland. Almost at the same time the Soviet Union also attacked parts located in the east of Poland. According to a common contract Germany received the western part of Poland and the Soviet Union the eastern part. The remaining rest was attached as a general governorate to the German empire. The Polish money of the pre-war period was drawn and, instead, different Groszy - coins were issued. For the 1Grosz - piece the old embossed stamps with the annual number 1939, for 10-and 20Groszy pieces stamps with the annual number 1923. 50 Groszy- coins were ordered already in 1938 by the Polish government as a precaution in the event of war.
